Two nations – with a common language?

American minister visited church at the weekend for a conference, great guy, great weekend, however the prayerful atmosphere at the end of his sermon on Sunday night was ruined when he invited us to “get our leg over with Jesus”.

Managed to avoid laughing, but there were some very meaningful looks exchanged between people!

To put it in context, he’d been using an illustration of filling a swimming pool and jumping in it – he was suggesting we might want to jump in the pool with Jesus. Don’t think he realised the connotation of what he actually said.

  2. Ok, for American readers (or other non British people who may have stumbled across this blog) to “get your leg over” with someone means that you’d like to sleep with them…
